In my opinion the "battle-lines" are now clearly drawn. I read a John Carmack interview recently in which he stated that all initial development of the next Quake was being done on an Xbox 360 dev. system. He sang the praises of Microsoft and seemed completely unconcerned about MicroShaft screwing up OpenGL. Oh, yeah, Quake is going to be all DirectX. It was obvious to me he has gone over to the evil empire. (Herb Sutter anyone?) Money walks baby.... So Sony has obviously countered with Sweeny. Once again the people - PC gamers - who "made" these guys will be abandoned at the first opportunity to enrich themselves. Yes I know about Carmack donating old code to the "community." So what, it's OLD. It's not a threat to their revenue stream at all. Scraps from the King's Table mean little really.
