Damn, i have been waiting for a long time for this game and now they release a Glide demo :-( But that is not so bad if i hadn't bought me a TNT2 Ultra a few days ago and removed my V2 and sold it , hehe Guess i just have to wait for the openGL version now, lol Btw i personally hate the deals that some game programmers make with other companies . Q3 test was Mac first. Q3 probably will support GL better then Glide. Unreal realesed a Glide demo because it was agreed with 3DFX. ( Do they really think someone is going to buy a V3 now ? ) Other games can only be played at Mplayer or so . Just had to get this of my chest . Also because i will have to wait a long week to be able to play again. Well, at the end i will be playing UT almost every day i guess :-) i am also working on a homepage wich will include a page for all UT related stuff . As soon as it is finished i will let you know . Thanx , Mirmar

There was no deal made there. The first Q3test was so early in development that they knew it had lots of bugs. It's easier to handle bug reports from a relatively smaller crowd. >Q3 probably will support GL better then Glide. Q3 only supports OpenGL and it will stay that way. >Unreal realesed a Glide demo because it was agreed with 3DFX. That's true. I haven't read much about the future but a Direct3D capable demo version should be available pretty soon. According to some reports the OpenGL support still lags behind in the development of UT, but with both Glide and Direct3D they really don't need to put extra effort in supporting OpenGL. >( Do they really think someone is going to buy a V3 now ? ) 3dfx sure uses the demo as a small part in their extensive advertising campaign. The game Unreal Tournament is a very good place to put advertising money into, especially since the original Unreal didn't play too well on anything but 3dfx cards until a long time after it's release. So many gamers already associate Unreal Tournament with Glide. >Other games can only be played at Mplayer or so . Luckily they aren't too many. Everybody knows that gamers want to be able to play freely over the net without having to use any special services for it. Game makers like Westwood shoot themselves in the foot so to speak when they remove such natural aspects from a game. >Just had to get this of my chest . They did a deal with 3dfx to promote the launch the new 3dfxgamers.com site, nothing sinister in that! It is also not unique for this early demo to only support 3dfx, a number of other and even final demos doesn't support anything else. This was a pain to me until I got my Voodoo3 and although most demos use Direct3D today it is still a factor. Anyhow, the Direct3D supported UT demo seems to get out in just a few days, so it's not much of an issue even for the people wishing that Glide ceased to exist. ;) -- Mikael K Karlsson - http://surf.to/mkk

Someone just posted a message saying that you can still run it with a TNT2 with a glide wrapper or some other program, but I could be wrong. There is also the software setting to. mirmar <mir...@multiweb.nl> wrote in message news:7s3lei$p4p$1@news.news-service.com... > Damn, i have been waiting for a long time for this game and now they release > a Glide demo :-( > > But that is not so bad if i hadn't bought me a TNT2 Ultra a few days ago and > removed my V2 and sold it , hehe > > Guess i just have to wait for the openGL version now, lol > > Btw i personally hate the deals that some game programmers make with other > companies . > Q3 test was Mac first. > Q3 probably will support GL better then Glide. > Unreal realesed a Glide demo because it was agreed with 3DFX. > ( Do they really think someone is going to buy a V3 now ? ) > Other games can only be played at Mplayer or so . > > Just had to get this of my chest .
