heh...went to bed last night having about 30% of the demo...using
Getright...woke up this morning with the whole nifty thing sitting on
my HD!

Woop! This game rocks---and at least for the next few days it's just
for 3dfx cards!

On my Celeron 300a (OC'ed to 375) paired with Pure 3D (voodoo
graphics) I'm getting 25 fps...not too shabby.

Already won the first two botmaps---but their skills were much higher
in the second compared to the third.

Funny...the game feels more like Requiem than Unreal...it's not a bad
thing, just not what I'm used to playing Unreal BotDM.

After playing through it all night (couldn't stop) I felt
like having experienced some of the good sides of games like
Duke3d, Shogo and Daikatana. Fast paced action from start
to finish. And the bots even handles CTF teamplay pretty
well. I never played Unreal much in multiplayer but I'm
sure I will with UnrealTournament. It'll be great to switch
between UT and Q3A to get different gaming experiences and
never truly tire of the genre this winter. If only both
games could be released in time for the installation of my
cable connection. :-)

heh...my first (this morning around 7:30) I experienced NetUT for the
first time...6-7 on the server...two 50 ping or less LPBs ruling the
server...the rest of us (pings over 250) struggling to keep our heads
on!

Frankly, the Netplay feels just about the same as Unreal---I noticed a
few lost packets (suddenly seeing a player and then not seeing him and
then he reappears in a different location). But with my v.90
connection, I'll probably get UT just for the bots...heh

In my mind, modems and netplay has never really worked in
these kinds of games. Even if I've played quite a lot of
QuakeWorld that way and the games bandwith management has
improved since then it's just too painful after you've got
used to LAN enviroments. ISDN or better is really needed
for netplay. I feel sympathy for the brave souls that don't
let laggy gameplay stop them, there should be more
hiping-only servers for them. For me, I'm waiting for
cable...

There are HPB only servers. The only problem with them is that they attract
LPBs like flies. For some reason there are a lot of jerks out there who want
to knock around inexperienced modem players. (and they really are jerks,
I've aruged with them in AGQ3)

Isn't there any server mod that is capable of kicking out
lowping players from a highping-game server? (like there is
for Q1 and Q2)
