I just saw an article on the BBC web page about some group making 3d images of the catacombs of Italy. I thought, won't it be cool to import those images into a shooter, and play a virtual deathmatch in real tunnels! It might be funner as a single player game. Zombies, of course.

I'll play. in fact, I'll uz and host the maps for anyone who wants to run that sort of server. We have our own sort of catacombs around here but without the crumbling marble and dead bodies. They discovered gold here in the early 1800s and made a town. The Chinese dug hundreds and hundreds of miles of tunnels. The uppor class houses in the mansion districts enjoued dozens fo discreet escape routes from their homes in case of riot or fire or whatever makes people want to escape such places. The chinese dug thousands of tunnelsinterconnecting some of the homes and giving escape routes to all of the rich folks. I have personally crawled, dug, snd wormed my way through 125 miles of the most dangerous stuff we have, I'd love to see some real terrain like that get ported to ut.

BTW: My hometown is completely realised in 3D on Google Earth. But walking the streets with Googles user interfaces sucks. Does anyone know, if GE data can be ported to UT (any version)? tia duff

Importing stuff like "There is a wall/building/streetlamp here" isn't going to happen though. At best you would end up with a nice template to map from.
