Your email addy was bounced back so I'll reply here:

I tried both Nvidia's OC utility and ATITool, with Tool being the clear
winner. Just be SURE to set an upper limit on testing if you let it find
your card's limit. I forgot to and nearly burned my 8600GT. Personally I
don't push to stratospheric limits but I do like to add an extra fan and
crank it up 8-10%.

BTW, I had to RMA my original 7900GS. A bunch of the first-run 7900 series
cards got bad RAM from China and started to fail with some regularity. Keep
your receipt and register to protect your investment. I'm glad I did.

Wow, you sure nailed it. It's *exactly* like a grainy soft focus camera
filter. I was struggling with how to explain it but in a nutshell you
describe it perfectly. I live in coastal Oregon and we get lots of afternoon
fogs roll in off the Pacific. If you go out for a walk and it's an
especially heavy fog then it looks much like the outside in UT3. You can see
things, just not perfectly clear and with sharp definition.

I think I'll probably pass on 3 after a little while. I've even added the
patch today from the link in AGUT but haven't bothered to fire up the game
to see if the save games issue was fixed. When I got 2K4 I thought it was
going to cost me a marriage because I couldn't stop playing. I'm a little
older and probably not so much a gamer as I once was but this game just
didn't "grab" me.

Thanks goPostal.

So I can use ATI Tool with my nVidia card?

The demo hasn't grabbed me at all and I haven't received the full game
yet, and after reading others' opinions I'm not optimistic.
I'm not a big gamer in that I play lots of games, I've only played UT in
its different versions since 1999, but played it non-stop, like you.

I'm considering trying something else... Crysis looks to be worth a shot
although I haven't looked at it in any detail yet. Anyone any opinions
on that?
