If Not UT3, Then What?

Looks like some people are disappointed with UT3.
I've been planing on upgrading my computer. Partly
because of UT3. My question is, if the game isn't that good,
is there anything out there that is worth upgrading for?

Thanks in advance.

Gears of War springs to mind for a great visual game. It has some issues
though so do a little homework before you buy. Bioshock was simply awesome
too. After UT, it's the best game-for-dollar-spent I've ever made.
Hellgate:London was just ok. Witcher I installed, played 30 minutes then
uninstalled. ET:Quake Wars is a pretty good game too, if you like things in
the UT vein.
Skip Crysis for now unless you have one of those
my-E-penis-is-bigger-than-yours Alienware dual 8800 card, water cooled
5-large gaming rigs. That game is better played after the gear catches up.
Kinda like Doom 3 when it first dropped. It took the next generation cards
to fully see the 512MB texture package.

UT :-)

Ah! I've just asked for opinions of Crysis in my reply to you, below
somewhere.
I read some very enthusiastic reviews of it on Amazon (UK). Looks like
my kit won't handle it well then. Dammit :(

Lot's of folks are raving over TF2. COD4 has been getting some good
reviews as well.

There's a few good games around atm that require a decent spec.

UT3 - It's still a good game, and it will be better when they fix the
bugs and finish the bits that should have been finished before release.

Crysis. Lovely game - right up to the point where it goes all sci-fi and
bad.

Call of Duty 4 - Lovely game with good single player campaign.

Gears of War - Just ordered it. Hopefully the bugs aren't crippling.

I have a 128mb 7800Gt on a 2gb amd x2 4600. It plays Crysis fine at
default settings. I'm not an eye-candy monkey so I don't ramp things up
to max detail or get obsessive over FPS, I just play it and enjoy it :)

Ddin't I see there was a second Stalker to be released? Not sure if it's an
add-on or standalone.
