I don't consider using resources like a FAQ as cheating. Keeping with Unreal as an example, a FAQ might tell you that the best way to beat Malcolm in the final of UT2004 single player campaign is to get one frag up and then go hide until the time runs out. That's not cheating, it's simply using a tactic to succeed. If that's considered cheating, then getting swing tips from a golf instructor is cheating.

It's not a tactic to hide, it's exploiting a bug in the AI (or poor AI). It's hard to argue that that isn't fair when to beat AI you always have to outthink it anyway. But when it's that blatant, that your not actually playing the game as it's been intended, then I think it counts as cheating. In that example, you might as well get one frag up and press skip level. PS: I did exactly the same to beat him too. :-p

It's not a tactic to hide i have to disagree... if you were in the game and it hurt like hell to get fragged, then sooner or later the smart people who just hide and blast away when they had a chance.. a friend was at a school doing the parent teacher thing. when a man walked up and said to him" i hear your a bad ass, work in law enforcemnt and know all the tricks". my buddy answered "what who told you that?". man replyed" ive been in martial arts since i was ten, ive been to ultimate fights and won, what could a bad ass like you do to me standing here face to face if i wanted to beatyou to a pulp" my buddy answered"if that was true as soon as i knew you were going to hurt me i would scream like a girl, run away crying help help help in a little girl voice, and when i got ten feet away and your standing here with you mouth open, i would turn around and shoot you. and you would still be standing here wondering what the hell happened" the guy walked away.. it may be wierd but it is a tactic.. as is hiding.. what ever get you to win is not cheating, its not loseing. nut....

This is always an interesting debate. Personally I feel that getting one frag and running is lame. If it was intended to be that type of game it would be "Play to one frag" not ten or twenty. And it does make a hell of a difference if you turn the textures way way down and turn off all the extras. You can for sure see better, especially in low gamma maps. All this leads to is "What's the point?" I play for the escape. If I were playing just to win, I'd load up CTF-Face, turn on zoom instagib, God myself and listen to "Monster Kill" echo across the canyon. Even if (read:when) I get my ass handed to me online it's still fun to explore a new map in all the splendor the map's author intended and maybe score a few headshots along the way. For me it's all about the experience and enjoyment. Disclaimer: I also used the Malcolm "cheat" to beat him. I absolutely could NOT win against him.

If only it were true that swing tips actually did any good, lmao. Truth is, no tip does any good without practice in a sport that requires physical skill. I resort to game faqs when I'm tired of searching for obscure items/places/map quirks/move-combinations that one must master/discover to advance in a game. The best example that strikes me is the game Myst, I would never have advanced to the end without help from a faq. -- Best regards, Kyle

The wife and I played it and had a blast. The story is pretty weak and the graphics are so very two years ago but the puzzles are solid and logical and can be figured out with patience and honest effort. I'd find myself at work mulling over a particular safe (the game is somewhat non-linear so you can skip around a bit) and when you get the "A-ha!" moments it's pretty cool.

You have got some real childish players, if they are not cheating then their ping is about 10% of your ping so it makes them amost impossible to beat. The only way to kill them is to get the redeemer and blow them to where they belong. Guess what, these dimwits will tell you that using the redeemer to get them will get you banned from the server.
