Whatever you buy, make sure that there are no integrated video cards or
anything lame like that.  Make sure that you have all the upgrade slots(i.e.
AGP + PCI).  I also like to have a nice roomy case for ventilation and
working room.  As for CPU speed, it's always recommended that you buy one or
two steps below the top of the line to save money.  I always get an average
sized hd, because by the time I fill that up, a giant sized hd(compared to
what you have) is usually $100.  One thing that I would go all out on if I
had the money is the vid card, because if you wanna play Q3 with all the
bells and whistles at 100+ fps, then you're gonna need some power.  I have a
GeForce2 MX and Athlon 800 and I have to put everything on default to get
100+ fps at 1024x768.  Well, that's what I'd do.
