I suggest laying off the Q3 vs UT flamebaits since most people usually don't take the discussion further than the subjectline suggests. Let people prefer whatever game they like, and talk about what's good about UT and what could be improved. This is after all a UT specific board. Here is a bit of my mind after playing the UT-demo. As background I'll say that I had already committed myself to play Q3 on clan level, so I wasn't out to find a game to beat it. Neither have I played Unreal too much in multiplayer mode, but enjoyed it in singleplayer. I find the weapons in the demo to be very well designed. I understand that there will be more in the full version but I can't say that I miss too many of the other original Unreal weapons. The leveldesign felt a bit cluttered and messy at first, but I soon realised that it's probably because I've played so much Q2 and Q3test this year and most of those multiplayer levels are a bit more plainly laid out. Habit is a powerful thing. After a while I started enjoying the tight actionfilled map design. I couldn't stop playing and finally got to the teamplay maps. Lots of action and very lifelike bots, not only the way they complain when I accidently shoot a comrade in the back. ;) They really handle teamplay well, the best I've seen bots doing so far. All the sound notes and taunts really adds to both the experience and the gameplay. Having a SB-Live card fitted with a surround speaker system doesn't hurt either. After forfeiting some sleep to be able to truly consume this demo I am convinced that i will play UnrealTournament quite a lot this winter. Earlier this year i felt a bit worn out on firstperson3d games. Having two great multiplayer games complementing each other nicely this winter in conjunction with a cable connection has to mean a complete revival of my interest in this genre of games. UnrealTournament seems to be the one shipping first and if waiting for Q3Arena takes too long then it's not too unlikely that I'll take up UT on clan level as well. My thanks to the game designers for a nice experience. This demo alone could be worth a few bucks. Keep supporting Glide too by the way. -- Mikael K Karlsson - http://surf.to/mkk/
