There's a lot of botters around. I run the Multiplay cluster and we're banning around 40-50 unique identified cheaters a day. Of those, perhaps 3-5 a day are new to us. Anth is about the anti anti-cheat author still working. Naturally, any admins that aren't spending a lot of time checking manually will have more botters. Don't generally like to advertise, but myself and the other admins here take pride in being able to accurately identify and more importantly - keep out identified cheaters. http://unreal.multiplay.co.uk/servers > b) I have seen some interesting and challenging "new" mods, such as Dr. > Strangelove (though that's sort of driving me crazy after 5 minutes of > screaming), Bunnytrack (though many maps are insanely hard, there seems > to be hardly anything for "beginners" to train on with less frustration) > and mainly Jailbreak(!). SLV's frustrate me too - can't drive the bloody things, but we have a good and solid SLV community server here. BT - sometimes you can get one with translocator enabled. Ours was until recently. Gives mortals a chance... I love jb but it seems to have fallen out of fashion, sadly. > - what do people enjoy in stuff like Monsterhunt? The unlimited stuff is from a mutator, normally UTJMH - but sometimes all you want is a spamfest that can be played by any level. We run one MH as you describe, and one with Insta-Combo gun, which makes it even easier :) Each to their own I guess... > - why did someone try to "improve" such a perfect game mod as instagib? > that combo-shot addition to instagib is about the lamest stuff ever. Again, taste. Insta was dying across the board. Insta-combo adds a significantly different style of play and our combo-ctf server gets a lot of players regularly. (Alas, our combo-dm seems to have lost its inertia recently) I think combo's appeal is that a really good player is less untouchable to the lower skilled players. The extra spam factor levels the field somewhat. > - what gayness rode some asses to NOT label their servers as passworded > for the server selection, and then demand a password *AFTER* you have > downloaded all the mods and maps they are currently using and then > connected to the server only to be kicked again? That is not only sheer > gayness, it is also dumb as shit, since the downloads of people that > can't join will slow the server down or at least waste bandwidth > somewhere. Plus it pisses people off... Can't argue with you there! Unfortunately that's an issue with ut99 itself - game password is prompted on the final stage of connection.
