I figured it out...it was a sound issue (!?). I found a patch on some blog.
I didn't keep the address because I thought it would never work. It's an EAX
Library patch.

Here's the name of the file; if you search on this in google you'll probably
find it quicker than I did.

uteaxsys.zip

Now it runs fine, but it doesn't work on games that use the Unreal
Tournament engine, (Rune is one, I forgot the other. They lock up when I
start them still. The patch doesn't recognize them).
