anybody still reading this from time to time? Any
experiences with playing the darkmod?

    No, but there's some singleplayer mod using the doom3 engine, correct? 
Anyone have a link handy?  I'm a little bummed that nothing was said about 
T4 at E3 this year, hope it makes an early 2011 release!

Hmm, thought that was the DarkMod, that is using the Doom3 engine. It's
got some single player campaigns but if I remember correctly was
originally conceived to provide textures and development tools for people
to build missions. They have made a few demo missions though AFAIK.

Got to give it a look again, I think they're pretty much finished.
You'll need to install it in Doom3 as a mod.

Can't wait, but so little time these days, it will probably be Xmas this
year.
Not sure if it is multi player as well, but because there is an
installer for Doom3 for Linux around I'll be able to play it without
going back to Windows, ha.
