Hello, I am having troubles with the game now that I added a EVGA 8600 GTS
nvidia card.

The graphics on the first two screens are ok but when I enter the level that
is when things look bad.

I see a lot of black.

See game level called 'A Brawl in the Tombs' for specific reference please.

I am in Windows XP Home, One gig of ram. Video card has 512 megs. DX9 is
installed.

Quicktime free player 7 is installed and working.

I went to microsoft and had them scan for the latest updates.

I am using the drivers that came on the cd for the video card.

The card has been plugged in the system a whole 3 days so its that new
so to speak.

In the level I see massive amounts ofblack and green. The only time when
thing start to look like some thing is when I am near the soldiers or
zombies.

If I camera down at the tomb floor with nothing nearby all I see is
black floors and black walls with pieces of dark green here and there.

I just dont know what to do about this.

I am disapointed that I might have to deleted thief 2 on my system. :(

Any one out there know any thing about his ?

This may be due to a known problem with the Nvidia 8600 series
with Thief 2 and System Shock 2. The "new" video cards
have dropped support for 16-bit color (being optimized for
games released in the last 30 minutes than for compatibility).

Or hunt around for similar discussions on the web.
I couldn't use the fix for System Shock 2 because
everything ran so slow, so I put up with horrible colors
instead, but it might work better for Thief 2 since that's
what it was designed for. People have claimed fog
isn't working right or is too slow.
