Ruined Cd

After 5 years of using and abusing my Thief Dark Project cd. It's no good.
No matter what I do to try and clean it the computer won't read it. Is there
any place to download the original so I can burn it to cd?

I'm sure you can find a torrent at isohunt.com if you look.

Why didn't you just leave Thief installed and/or use a no-cd crack so the
CD could remain tucked safely away?

I never knew that was possible. It was always playing when playing fan
missions. And those alone were at least a few thousand hours.

That can also be hard on one's CD-ROM drive. Anyhow, once you get Thief
again, head over to Komag's site and look at his essentials page for the
various no-cd cracks.

it is always spinning super fast. It is non-stop. Thanks for the link.

the thief games were posted in alt.binaries.old.games a couple of
weeks back - but maybe your server doesn't have such retention.

borrowed my originals to my dad over a year ago and he's addicted now
so got myself another copy from ebay - Sold Out Games - thief 1 and 2
£5.89 for both - also both were current versions - ie. thief 1 is at
version 1.33

some games I might download but my favorites like thief, half life and
neverwinter nights I buy - I've played these many times and they're
well worth the money

The point is he did buy it originally. Downloading a replacement copy
isn't taking any money away from Looking Glass now, since they're long
gone.

Once I find a new copy I'm gonna burn 5 copies of it for backup. No way
will this happen again. Best game ever! ( one and two but not three )

I'm not against downloading - I tried everywhere to get replacements
from game shops and newsgroups - someone posted thief 1 for me but it
was a rip - voice files were missing etc, so that prompted me to check
ebay.
I have a download limit on my broadband so am paying for any downloads
anyway. Then there's the cost of the discs to burn to, and cases, and
covers.
Apart from downloading you can't really beat less than £3 for each
game,
Just when I got the games through the post someone else posted full
versions of them in the group I mentioned.

eBay is another alternative. It was the only place I could find Thief Gold.
