if you play Thief in the dark, sometimes the dark hampers typing. Maybe this keyboard is the solution, eh? https://www.deckkeyboards.com/catalog/product_deck_ice_legend.php?cPath=0_21&products_id=52 $160 is a bit much though. I think I'll wait to hear some real world feedback on the quality. -- Michael Cecil http://home.comcast.net/~macecil/ http://home.comcast.net/~safehex/

You're right.
Great idea. Bad price.

Thanks, but I'll just burn a candle nearby while taffing...

The one on the website is re-badged and the price grossly inflated. I paid Ł25 for mine about 2 months ago (around $43 US). It's a great keyboard. It looks cool and is very nice for gaming in the dark and the build quality is very sturdy and it has a nice feel to it for typing and general use. You can get another version of it that comes with a separate programmable pad. I got mine from here - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ it would seem that both models are on special offer, I don't know if they ship worldwide tho. Rog.

Really, wow! Thanks, I have been talking to Jim at pckeyboards.com (they make the current incarnation of the IBM Model Ms) about why they discontinued their all black Customiser 101s and then found out that even the original Model M13s (the black ones with built-in trackpoint pointers) also used painted on lettering instead of molded in lettering like the beige ones. Anyhow, I'll definitely investigate the Saitek Eclipse too. And they said Usenet was dead. Pffft. -- Michael Cecil http://home.comcast.net/~macecil/ http://home.comcast.net/~safehex/

I was just going off the photo of the keyboard on the website which looked almost identical to the one I'm typing this on now, on further investigation it is different. Sorry, my mistake. The Eclipse is still a good alternative though, you are wrong when you say it needs extra drivers, its just a standard USB keyboard (it might need extra software under some OS's of course, but it works fine under XP) and it doesn't have any of those multimedia keys that you will never use, apart from the standard keyset it just has a couple of volume buttons and a button to control the lighting. Are you sure you have been looking at the right keyboard? http://www.saitek.com/row/prod/eclipse.htm

They may load automagically, but they're going to be loaded all the same. I got the Logitech G15 keyboard for Christmas, the individual led backlit keys are perfect for playing Thief in the dark with, might knock up a Thief profile for the G keys and LCD. Nice thing about this keyboard is you can lock the windows keys off for playing in a game, no more accidental game minimising when you hit the bottom Window key by mistake! http://www.madmac-ff1.co.uk/misc/g15/g15007.jpg What's *nix* BTW? Cheers. Colin

Yup yup.
Like a spruce- or pine-scented candle. Gives you that extra touch of
immersion, especially for the outdoors missions.
Trail of Blood, anyone? ;-)

Whao! THAT is nice! It would be 115$ in USD, bit pricey. And the only game it supports that I have is Wordl of WarCraft, which i stopped playing because I'm too poor to pay the monthly fee. If I had the $ I would get this keyboard. It looks nice. drool! :P CelesteB wrote: >On Wed, 21 Dec 2005 12:10:21 -0600, Michael Cecil ><macecil@comcast.net> wrote: > > > >>if you play Thief in the dark, sometimes the dark hampers typing.
