How to strafe???

Just got Thief yesterday, and I am still getting used to moving around in
it.

I am a keen Quake 2 player, and am trying to work out how to strafe.

In Q2 I hold down  CTRL and then if I move the mouse from side to sid so do
I.

Surely I can do the same with thief, but I just can't work it out.

Any ideas?

You can setup your keyboard anyway you like it.
