Now, let me see. Here is this icon "Mafia" on my desktop. Hmmm.. maybe
I might like to play the game. Double-click. Huh? What's this ? The
Steam log-in comes up..damn, forgot to log-in and/or set Steam to off
-line mode.

Now, where did store my log-in and password? Sorry, I don't auto
log-in. Security issue, you know.

Of course, if one auto- logins or has (previously logged-in to) set
off-line mode, then I suppose you can live in the alternate reality
that the Steam umbilical does not exist.

Have you applied for a job with Valve? Your technical and marketing
ability should find you a slot in the company with remuneration
and bonuses suitably aligned with your current wealth. And Bellevue is
a beautiful area, with all sorts of recreation close by. Skiing,
climbing and hiking in the Cascades, boating and fishing in the lakes
or in Puget Sound and the San Juan islands.
