I am ready to throw in the towel on playing Starcraft online. In the last three days of playing, I won only 3 games out of 40. I used to win all the time. The fun is gone because several factors make it impossible to win now. I only play 3v3 team games, and you would think the luck of the draw would eventually give me decent teammates in an expert game. Nope, I always get the worst noobs. In one game, this idiot turtled and took 30 minutes to build 2 carriers. Meanwhile I was slaughted as all three players hammered me. I've tried every strategy in the book. There is no way to beat 3 super pros vs me. Last night, I tried going mass defense first. I built 20 sunkens. They ripped through the sunks in less than 60 seconds. Funny, I could send a 100 unit army, and die fast if I go after such a defense. Every game ends up with me fighting 3 on 1 since my teammates can't mount an offense. A large part of the frustration is the game hosts always stack the team. Usually they team up with all their buddies. If I try to host, no one will join my game. Now, I get so pissed off that I stopped playing. I join the stacked games, then announce that I am leaving. If the host makes a new game, I login with a new ID, and repeat the process to irritate them. Even more amazing, whenever I do get a decent teammate, the game almost always puts them in an isolation position far from my base so they get attacked first. Anyone else deal with these frustrations?

Don't play BGH/Money maps. It's for noobs. The time/effort you spend for building 20 sunkens could have been used to build/upgrade your troops which is the essence of winning. Sunkens won't help you conquer your enemies, innit? Ps. This is most probably the first OT post I've made since '98? -- Steven Ung Return of the Ignorant Asian!

Yes if 3 "expert" players are all attacking one person, that person should not last very long! A good practice strategy is to pratice beating the computer building absolutely no static defense at all (including barracks blockade) This will force you to mass produce units and attack Try 1 on 1 with LT and then 2 on 1 with LT. When you can beat 2 computers on LT with no static defense then you will begin to have an idea of how to produce units and use units to attack and defend, as opposed to buildings. When Blizzard made the AI's for SC - they did an extremely shitty job of teaching the computers how to siege / retreat - as such many people playing against the computers found out they could easily win by building static defense and then allowing the computer to commit mass suicide on it. (Actually I do not believe there is any in battle retreat feature - but I can't remember if units ever give up while chasing someone.) -- LTP :)

IN TEH PALECE KNOWEN AS alt.games.starcraft, TEH FAGGORTER "alvinst...@hotmail.com" <alvinst...@hotmail.com> DUMPED HIS GHEYE SHIET ON MY COMPUTAR SCREEN!!!!: > >Anyone else deal with these frustrations? I don't know about you, but in a 1v3 game you should be losing, even against comparedly less skilled players (lest they really really suck), BGH or not. The only thing you can really do is to find a buddy of your own with which to play with, or stick to 1v1 games - that way any fault for you losing or winning is undoubtedly at least going to be your and only your fault/accomplishment.
