Hello,
I'm a complete linux novice, but I want to try playing starcraft on a
linux machine. (OK, I have some experience)

I basically want to know what software I should use, and how to install
it.

I am using Knoppix 4.0

Um . . . use wine?

It took me a few days to get SC working on Linux, but I really didn't know 
what I was doing.

However, it was an older computer and the performance was unacceptable.

If you have a modern computer it would probably be fine.

Search Google for starcraft and wine or starcraft and Linux.
