Seriously speaking, that is what our country law are for a convicted drug trafficker (death penalty by hanging). I believe it is also the same for a few asian countries like China & Taiwan. -- Steven Ung The Ignorant Asian

Please try to check your facts before writing things like this. Nine Australians were arrested (not hanged) last year in Bali (Indonesia, not Malaysia). Only two have been sentenced to death (by firing squad, not by hanging). Schapelle Corby has been "got" (also in Indonesia, not Malaysia) and is in jail. It has been some time (over 12 years) since an Australian was last executed in Malaysia.

Well, like I've said, we are sorry for the hanging thing but that is the law of our land. -- Steven Ung The Ignorant Asian

I don't think you should be sorry. Everyone in Australia knows that south-eastern Asian countries such as Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia have extremely severe penalties for drug offences and that trying to smuggle drugs through them is tantamount to Russian roulette. Even if you don't agree with capital punishment (for these particular crimes or in principle) you shouldn't be shocked or outraged when countries follow their stated policies on drug trafficking.

My apologies, they're a lot closer together than we are to Austrailia. I certainly haven't heard of any kiwi's being charged recently -- Marsh Lion A little off
