Hello to everyone in the discussion. Despite the title for this topic I really didnt get screwed that much I went to EB and purchased several classics which I wanted to try. Amongst the games I bought was a used Starcraft version 1.0b.. I havent played this one yet, usually spent most of time on C&C. Anywho, I stick in CD run auto installer and it asks for a 13 digit cd key! I searched the cd files and it doesnt contain a key. I asked a friend and he said it should be on the cover of the game. Only prob is that it doesnt have the original cover, it has that eb used game cd cover and it doesnt contain the key. I saw it at best buy for $20 bucks which also comes with expansion sets. I am about to go that route if this game is not worth the research finding a key! But if getting a key for this thing is no prob then ill just settle for this. Does anyone know what i can do about this problem? I appreciate the time spent on your replies. Thanks Again!

Just so there is no misunderstanding No one here is going to give you a CD key. As long as that is settled - other than taking it up with the store - I don't know what you could do. -- LTP :)

It should actually be on the *back* of the cd case, but if that's not original, then try looking underneath the EB Games used one, they may have left the original underneath. If not, then I'd go back to the store and try to get a refund. $20 Best Buy Battle Chest route is a good deal; you get the original, expansion set, two strategy books (which are, admittedly, pretty useless after you beat the single player campaigns), and an actual CD Key :P You're not going to be able to get a valid key out of anyone here, and assuming you want to play multiplayer on battle.net, you're going to have to get an actual legit key from a source other than the internet (i.e. a friend who no longer plays the game or a store bought copy). If all you want is single player, lots of random number strings will let it install, but not work on battle.net. (i.e., I think 1234567890123 works...) EB Games really should not be selling used games like that, since it's easy to keep a copy of the disk and cd-key then just sell the physical disk/box back and keep on playing... or keep the little cd case insert with the cd-key on it and never have to worry about anyone else using their cd key. Anywho, hope you are able to work this out. Yeah, take it back to the store. Normally The CD-key should be on the backside of the jewel case, at least that's the case with the original release version. -- The Melodramatic MuuMi "I wuv fishes" - Bob-The-Vasudan, Commander of the 11th Battlegroup Official supporter of Vasudan Grand Admiral Bob: http://koti.mbnet.fi/muumi/Bob.jpg http://koti.mbnet.fi/muumi/BobPoster.jpg ICQ: 26741225 E-Mail: muumiSPAM@MEmbnet.fiHERE!
