terrible lag on battle.net

Hi,
    I am trying to get on to battle net to play starcraft online.

With warcraft 3 it works fine, with starcraft I can connect to
battle,net, join games and people can join games i host. However, i
get horrible lags whenever i actually play the game.

My computer & internet connection are both fast enough - warcraft 3
runs very smothly in battle.net. What might be the problem? And how
come it affects starcraft and not warcraft 3?
