For example, if you select Single Player, and then Play Custom. You are then given a list of maps to choose from. On any map you choose the Game Type options are Melee or "Use map settings". There's no "Free for all" option. In any game you start as Melee all computer opponents ally against you. Kind of makes the Hunters map (8 players) just about impossible to survive.
