That is certainly your attitude. Can you "cure" these sorts of people? I
certainly believe so. Granted Jail is not the best means to cure them.
Let me mention being Gay as an example (I'm not willing to argue weither
it is right or wrong, I believe that being Gay is a similar situation to
being a sexual offender (except one being legal, and the other not)). A
prominant Christian is Sy Rogers who WAS gay, and now is no longer (in
fact he preaches from his own experience on why being gay is wrong (in a
Christain sense)).

Quite right. Lets assume for a second that you were convicted of having
consensual sex with a minor when you were 20. You would be on that
register, What about your right to privacy? What about someone who has
been cured (again I say you can be cured)?

I suggest you read Spyda's post (regarding some smart New Zealand Sexual
Offenders) and tell me, by making publically available addresses etc of
Sexual offenders, that it prevents more attacks. The victims have
already had the damage done (so probably don't need protection). The
released offenders (should they be released is another arguement) have
to live somewhere, why rob them of a chance to live a normal life (If
people don't have a "normal" life, it is more likely that they will
offend in some form or other (not nessercerally a sexual offense)).

What I ment by that statment is that, while I think most american's have
the attitude that they rule the world, I still have to judge each
american individually (Luc is an example of this). In the same sense I
believe that you still have to judge each offender individually.
