Whats with this NG??????

Nobody seems to be posting...I realize there isn't really a lot of info. out
there right now, but lets talk about some of the serious issues that
(hopefully) will be resolved.

Here is my biggest gripe right now....I'm a Computer Engineering student,
and although I've got a pretty kicking system...Voodoo2,TNT,450,Abit BH6
Aureal etc...I don't really have the fundage for ISDN. I'm a pretty good
player, but playing against dudes with like 30 pings is just rediculous. I
hope that with team oriented mods, the server code enforces some parity
across the board....In other words, prevent like all the LPB's from teaming
up against the analog morons like a lot of us..It just pisses me off to see
a bunch of morons who think its a big riot to kick the shit out of the
HPB's...Anyhow, lets get a discussion going...

Oh yeah, how many of you guys are now thinking of geting the voodoo3 when it
comes out? The closer we get to its release, the more likely I'll get the
damn thing....I think a lot of people will change their minds.

Later,

Finortis

FINALLY, A GOOD POST!!!

OK, Mr. Engineering student, the TNT seems to be the shit-kicking card at
the moment, so your system is pretty close to the top. ID are testing Q3A on
TNT's at the moment, as well as SLI Voodoo2's. The Voodoo 3 is approx. a
little better than the SLI Voodoo2, but so is the TNT!!! And the TNT does
32bit colour. My advice ... wait and see ...

I have a TNT, and SLI Voodoo2. My honest opinion ... TNT moves the graphics
well at 1152x868x32, Voodoo2 moves them very well at the same resolution ...
but 16 bit colour.

So essentially, it's a trade off. IMHO again, it's a matter of personal
preference. Everyone knows that 30-40fps is the most playable game you will
find. If it gets higher than that, it's pretty much of a muchness. Trade off
between TNT and Voodoo2 is more fps vs more visual quality.

My preference is more visual quality.

Now, about ISDN and networks. I was in the same boat with these B*****ds
with the low ping being really cocky making you feel like shit as they frag
and flame you. Then I got ISDN ... it turns out that most of them aren't
really that good at playing!! Hehehe ... so much for teenage angst being
played out on the parents ISDN link.

Two words .... GROW UP!!!

hehehe ....

That's good to hear, when ever I played quake on the internet I was dead on
arrival on some servers and it took me half an hour to get one kill, I was
getting pretty frustrated, people were hitting me with decent accuracy, I
couldn't aim the damn thing properly because the lag was so bad. I thought
that the game ran the same speed for everybody.

Even SLi won't do that resolution, it must be defaulting to something
else if that's what you are selecting.

Yup, personally I find the extra speed more useful, but I *would* like
that choice, which you do not get with a Voodoo, grrrr. That will prolly
influence my personal choice away from Voodoo3.

Woops!! You're right, it goes to 1024x768x16 ... my mistake! Makes me prefer
the TNT even more now! Love the Voodoo for the Glide games though.
