I've heard that the playtest release will be about 40 megabytes, is this a
confirmed fact or just peoples guesses?

No it wasn't, it was 12megs.
I remember waiting hours for the fucker to download on my 14.4k.
Then after the long wait I realised it was bugged to hell and wasn't that
good.

I thought it was an estimate given by John Carmack or Brian Hook or someone
in an interview with one of the gamers web sites...? Could be wrong...

Can anyone be bothered to wait for 40Megabytes to download just to play some
bugged version of a decent game which will be available on cover CDs in a
couple of months.

Hmmmm, let's weigh the choices:

Get a playable sneek peek with 2-3 hours of download time...

or

Wait 2-3 months for the full version to be released.

I don't know about you, but I'll be glad to be bothered!
