Heya

Just brought home the new pc.

I want to install q3 and RA3 on it, but I can't remember how (the old
rig is now almost 5)

As far as I recall, there was a specific sequence for install; Q3, the
Pointrelease 1.32, then Ra 1.76 or something like that.

Any memory jogs for me?

Wewt!!!

No need for a re-install, just copy the old Quake III Arena folder to the new
machine and put a shortcut to the exe someplace. Put it on a second drive or
partition, and you won't have it getting fooked up when you reinstall your
OS. I load all my 'portable' apps and games onto D:\ for just this reason.

If you need to do a fresh install, load from the CD, then get 1.32 PR, then
get pbsetup.exe. (for servers running punkbuster)
http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
If you have to use punkbuster, this will make it a lot less painful to get
the latest version.

Create an autoexec.exe and put all your favorite settings and binds in it.

So long as you aren't running Team Arena (who is these days?) then you can copy the whole Quake3
directory from Program Files right across to the new pc.

Hey

Got it installed. How are ya Geribaldi the crazy biker man from King's
Cross if I recall?

Had that ftp address for years in my bookmarks!

Happy fragging! (or not. Very few people still playing it.) I
uninstalled Q4, only a few Q3 servers left where I ping half decent.
Gonna eventually have to move on, but for me its been a long fun ride.

Hey buddy - yep that's me!

Out on my bike tomorrow and Sunday trying for 230mph on a disused runway. Should be possible with my
400hp if the engine (and the rider) holds-together :D

I only play 3wave ctfs nowadays. Play most nights on xs4all of Jolt Uk servers. XS4all is usually
full!
