Hi All, I used to play Q1 CTF a long time ago, and just brought a copy of Q3 (yet to play). I was wondering if anyone could bring me up to speed on playing CTF with Q3. I tried googling it but can't find the straight out answers I need. Like: What are the most popular CTF mods played for Q3? Where can I find a list of servers for CTF games (is gamespy all paid subscription now)? I know there newb questions, but I haven't found a straight foward site that offers the basics.. Cheers

The most common ctf mod is CaptureStrike ala Threewave. There are no items on the map. You start with 100/100 and all weapons (minus bfg or whatever it's called in 3). It also has fast-switching and RJ's only hurt your armor. Man to my mind Quake 1 CTF is absolute best....one of best... I love hooked 'em and have his scream pain....LOLOL ROFL LOL !!!! Quake 2 CTF was disappoint because hook was weak and I really have hard time in Q2 CTF :/ I did pretty ok in Q3 CTF because of similar speed in Q1 :D I found love play FREEZE TAG in Q3 for long time...good game :P

Your best bet will be to grab a server browser, and see what is available with a decent ping. Different areas of the world/country are going to have different servers and mods. The All-Seeing-Eye is a great browser, and has many filters that make finding specific gametypes a snap. Threewave is pretty much the best, tons of maps. I play a lot of ctf here: -=Thunder=- 66.150.247.20:27960 it's on the west coast of the USA, there's another server on the east coast here: 70.42.41.181:27960
