Hi all, I understand that Quake3 has problems recognising the 2 buttons on the side of the 5 button mouse (I'm using MS Optical Intellimouse). I'm sure I have read somewhere that in order to solve this problem, a can (outside of Q3) assign a button to a specific key, and then bind that key to an action in Q3, allowing the use of all button. I am, unfortunately, a complete biff and have forgotten how to do this. Are there any kind souls out there, who might take pity on me and give me the benefit of their wisdom? aSweetOldLady PS Thanks in Advance. PPS How do I use spaces in my online Q3 name?

Well I don't know about the mouse (using a venerable 2-button M$ Optical Intellimouse w/scroll wheel as I do) but for the name with spaces in, open up your autoexec.cfg and put the name inside " " (so, mine is set name "^1EvilBill^2[^4AGQx^2]" <g> -- -- * I always hope for the best. Experience, unfortunately, has taught me to expect the worst. Yahoo: evilbill_agqx Web: http://www.evilbill.org.uk

Install the intellipoint software. Configure it. Change your binds in your autoexec.cfg to reflect the keys bound to the mouse buttons.

So configure your mouse as you said: "...in order to solve this problem, a can (outside of Q3) > assign a button to a specific key,..." then in order to bind THAT key in > Q3 do this: bind <key> <command> I think that's what you meant. As a previous poster mentioned, you can out this in a cfg file. I have a cfg which I execute first thing when I join the game. Hope that was it...

I had the same problem in the past. The solution is:
1. install the latest Microsoft Mouse Driver for Inteli mouse
2. open up control panel \ mouse \ properties \ one of the tabs above
3. you will be able to choose a mouse key (Ifor example one of the left
side buttons) and in the select listbox choose ('select a key' option -
~it's one of the options in thew middle of the list.. i guess)
So, I hope it helps, I wrote this just by remembering 2 uears ago or
so.. but YES it's possible :)
Cheers ~

Hi all again. I got this to work with Quake 3 (Urban Terror mod specifically), but not with the program specific option. I had to set this up under the general assignment for it to work. It's a bit of a pain as now I can't skip forwards and backwords through windows without changing the settings every time. Any idea what's stopping me? and why I'm being such a noob?
