where to d/l 1.32 patch

I'm late in the game but have just installed Q3... I see I need a patch but everywhere I go to d/l it says I need to be a paying subscriber... I rarely use the service so I don't want to pay for it... Anyone know where I can get the patch free? Also, anyone care to help me learn the finer points of the game? I'm assuming that setting up the config file is similar to Q2, correct? Thanks, Babs

I was at id via a link from the CD but that page took me to planetquake... So I did a google and was sent everywhere but id! Oh well, happily downloading... Also, jeez, I forgot about the nausea that comes w/ playing this game! Sheesh! It's going to take a while to get used to this again... I dunno, an hour of nausea for every 10 minutes of gameplay, is it worth it? :-) > >> Also, anyone care to help me learn the finer points of the game? Some of the commands have changed a bit, but a Google > search should turn up any number of guides on config files :) Thanks, I've been googling around... I remember when you could find all kinds of cool info on Q2 - seemed everywhere you turned... One of my favorite sites (for the good content but also for the giggles it gave me) was QuakeWeenie, but that site is sadly gone... I never seemed to get away from the weenie status, hedged off of it for a while there but never really got above it... Oh well... I had fun anyway.... See ya around kid! Servers that don't use it, you run the risk of encountering cheaters. The adrenalin perhaps? How does one get rid of the head bob? Is it the same as the Q2 config? set bob_pitch "0" set bob_roll "0" set bob_up "0" I must say that Q3 graphics are nicer and I like the bot play that comes with it... I can feel my b/p rising as I play though... Babs

BubblyBabs wrote: > why do you have an autoexec.cfg and > a config.cfg and the other cfg's? The q3config is your main config. Any settings you make via the console, or the menus get written to it. If you reload the game or delete the q3config, the game simply creates a new one. An autoexec does just what it says... automatically execs itself when the game starts (writing the settings to the q3config). Unlike the q3config, it can only be changed manually. What this means is that all the settings YOU want, or perfer, are saved. If you organize it well, it is also the simplest way to make changes, since it can be very straightforward and easy to read. Other configs are created for specific settings or tasks (recording demos, viewing models, etc), and kept separate mainly because they are only needed occasionally, and would clutter up the autoexec.
