Has anyone else had problems with getting kicked off by PB and given the
blocked OS privileges error? Its happening all the time now - i dont last
10 mins without it occuring.. and after it does - i cant use windows
properly - I cant even shut Windows down, as I get "Insufficient OS
privileges to shut down this machine" and such. What could be happening? I
am running win2000.

I saw an article about this, and it said that EB had suggested that people
use their admin account when playing on servers - but I have tried this and
I still get the error 4FD. Ideas?

I just recalled that this OS thing has been an issue ever since I updated my
vid card drivers, and had to install MS .NET thingo. I tried uninstalling
it, but in doing so i screwed my video and had to put it back. Anyone know
a way to disable this .NET thing to test its role in this OS issue?

I seem to have solved this problem.. by accident. I was having problems
with McAfee Firewall Plus so I uninstalled it, and the OS Privlgs problem
has gone with it.
I always played with the firewall inactive, but it seems that it still had
some effect - explaining perhaps why a problem that seemed to arise in Q3,
went onto affect my OS in such strange ways.

PunkBuster explains on it's web site which user privileges to give to their
program to not get the error your talking about.
Do Not and I repeat Do Not use Administrator privileges surf the web, play
games, etc. as this leaves your OS open to any attacker to install or change
your system.
Always use a restricted user account online.
Any program or game that needs Administrator privileges to run on Win2k/XP
is outdated poorly written software that shouldn't be on a Win2k/XP machine.
Also never ever go online without a firewall. Whether it be a software based
or NAT Router firewall, always use a firewall online.
Get a router with a NAT firewall if you have a broadband connection even if
you won't be networking computers together, and set it up properly.
Also use a software based firewall that uses a small 10 to 20mb memory
footprint. Tinyfirewall v2.15 is one.
And for God's sake setup a secure password for your router & software
firewall Administration account!

BTW these McAffe/Norton (Not-run) Internet Security Suites are IMO
"Bloatware" that can use up to 100mb of memory and cripple a "Bargain"
computer that has a minimum amount of memory installed.

PunkBuster ain't worth shit anyway as the "Real" Hacker/Cheater can easily
fool PB.

Happy Gaming.

Good advice!
