Hi

Does anyone know why my quake crashes when this map comes into
rotation?

I get a Qauke error every time. Has happened on a number of servers.

Any help will be welcome.

Heh - sorry - I was waiting too!
Sounds to me like the map (the copy you have) is corrupt or has been altered
as per the original - so everytime you get a request from the server for
this map, the game crashes because the version you have is not compatible.
Possible solution then - > delete this map and download it once more from a
server. Good luck -

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, even after deleting the current
map and downloading one from a server, it then proceeded to load the
new map and almost immdiately gave me the same quake error. :(

any other possible ideas?

thanks.

Try removing any custom .pk3 files and loading a "pure" q3 instance to rule
out any bad shader, texture or model files that could be using the same name
as something in the map you're having problems with.

to simplify, make a new text file in your baseq3 folder with the following
lines:

rename *.pk3 *.pk
rename pak*.pk pak*.pk3
rename ra3map*.pk ra3map*.pk3

save the file, and rename to makepure.bat and double-click the file you just
made. Then fire up ra3 again and try to load the map. If you're still
having problems post the error message here. If you aren't having the
problem any more, the problem lies in another .pk3 file somewhere in your
baseq3 folder. At that point, start renaming the .pk files back to .pk3 a
few at a time (if you have a lot of them I'd do something like 5 at at time)
until you find the error pop up, then you have to rename the one(s) you just
renamed back to *.pk one at at time until your problem disappears.. the last
one you rename that allows you to load the map without errors is the
culprit - either look for and updated version of that map/model/whatever or
just discard it and live without it.
