Just got Quake 4.  Have a AMD XP 2600+ with a 1Gig of DDR and GeForce 
5900XT.  Is my video card or my CPU the hold up on performance?  Was 
thinking of jumping to an athlon 64 3000 cpu and motherboard.  Not sure how 
much it would help though.

Get a better card first.
I have an XP 2500+@2.2 GHz with an unlocked 6800.  I'm playing Quake4 at 
1280x1024 medium settings with everything in the advanced menu on and 
antialiasing set to 2x.
