Best Buy has it listed as available Wednesday.  Although they're the
only store that has it listed in its ad.

Yeah, thumbing through a pamphlet that was stuffed into the mailbox 
today, Dick Smith in NZ has Q4 being released on Oct 21, and are taking 
pre-orders now. Seems there's a bonus item going with the pre-orders, 
probably a character model like they did with D3.

This was the first I'd heard of the release, other than reading a long 
spiel by Carmack saying he'd be sucking up to Bill Gates by delaying 
release until the X-Box version was available.

The pamphlet is listing only the PC version, so maybe he gave up 
pandering to Microsoft.

Hope this doesn't stink as badly as D3 did! Absolutely loved Q3, and 
played it so much that I can go on hardcore through most levels.
Not bad for an old fella!

for the online community and I'll have to buy the PC version (probably

I so heartily wish there were console/PC game bundles available.  Pay 
something like $65-75 and get both versions. Rather than buying both 
separately for $100+.  For the most part in the past you could decide 
relatively easily which way to go, some games are obviously better on 
one or the other platform, with the XBox360, I think the line between PC 
and console will be blurred further.

I wonder if there will be a Quake4 newsgroup, there wasn't a Doom 3 
group and the Doom 3 discussion died out pretty quickly in 
alt.games.doom.  There's a HL2 newsgroup but it gets slim percentage of 
the activity that the original aghl gets.
If there isn't a Q4 group, the discussion may end up being more apropos 
to the agq2 group.

running around one of the CTF levels. Looks like strafe jumping and rocket 
jumping are still there, so it won's suck like Doom 3 did. <G>
It will supposedly be available tomorrow here, I will be heading down the the 
local computer store to buy it. It's out for sure, someone is already 
uploading the dvd to a newsgroup. (assuming the post is real)

A LOT of folks don't even get the HL2 ng on their servers.  The RR servers 
are usually pretty good, so I don't go for giganews or the like.

I was in a NZ dse today. I saw a box with mention of a dvd edition.
This one has quake2 + the two expansion packs. As I've had these
for years I don't need the dvd but who knows there might be someone
who wants to keep a lookout for this.

The original post is real.  I wasn't sure if the website where I found
the info was real.  Why does Id own the glsetup.com website?

DVD edition also has multimedia about the making of Q4, and I for one 
have ordered that as I would like to see and hear the crew that do such 
great work. THis involves id, Activision and Raven staff.

Likewise, I had Q2 and the mission packs already. For me the action and 
pace of Q3 was the best though.
