Are you sure? That's quite a lot.. even if it is Quake 3, several million
people is a tad bit of an overkill. I'd be suprised if Quake or Quake 2
sold over 1 million.

You speak bollocks.
The army wouldn't invested any money to make some crappy little computer
game better.

After considering Satan's message.......

He has a good point, why would the Army be interested in a computer GAME???
It wont help them train better ( Unless they suddenly invent plasma guns and
grappling hooks capable of ripping your arm off ) so he is right. As I have
been told before,

You speak nonsense.....

Actually, the army did use a highly modified version of Doom, changing the
weapons, physics etc.

Yes they did. But you have to wonder what the point is, probably it's the
military having too much money to spend, they've already developed space
based
lasers, high resolution spy cameras, plane mounted laser cannons and all
manner of other cool weapons. They probably thought that the future was
virtual reality, which it isn't. If there ever is another major war troops
will probably very rarely be used. I doubt that having played a computer
game will prepare them for shells, machine gun fire, possible nuclear
preattack, unless the army has modified doom for use in some sort of full
immersion body suit with realistic sound and graphics. Then, that wouldn't
be doom would it.

No, but it would be excellent to play <g>. I don't think they invested money
in it, just altered it. I agree that it probably wouldn't help them much in
a war situation but it's a good excuse for spending a couple of hours a day
playing an excellent game instead of drilling.

Well if they army IS interested in Quake3 for virtual reality reasons, it
would probably be so they could train army personnel to control machines
virtually from a distance. If they have one good controller, they could use
that person again and again, no matter how many times the equipment they
were controlling got damaged or whatever... unlike a good soldier, who just
dies!

Playing computer games esp. FPS games helps:

1) Improve hand-eye coordination
2) lessen the effects of motion sickness
3) Improve strategy planning
4) Improve rate of problem solving

as well as improving mathematical aptitude.

No wonder the army would be interested!!!
