The solution to the OpenGL Subsystem error is simple.

For those of you who use 3Dfx cards(Voodoo, Voodoo2, Voodoo Rush, or
Banshee) don't bother with this demo YET, because 3Dfx hasn't released the
updated 3Dfx OpenGL ICD that contains Voodoogl.dll. It should be available
later this month.

As for users without OpenGL capabilities, sorry, Quake III is OpenGL-only,
no software rendering. And, Riva TNT users(lucky bastards) can use the demo
without failure.

this is wrong...i have voodoo2 and it works...

for all voodoo 2 users with the OpenGL subsystem problem:

1. u have to place your opengl32.dll into the root folder of the game
(e.g. c:\quake3_demo)

2. do not use the mini GL support file from 3dfx (which has a size of
129kb only), but the genuine one (file length on my system is 689kb)

hope that helps a bit

take care

It's funny you should say that because in my office there are 2 people
running it on Voodoo Graphics (me excluded - see my post) and at least one
other person running it on Voodoo2. On Voodoo graphics it runs slowly and
has cerain extensions missing, but the OpenGL ICD seems fine (in its beta
form). Voodoo2 is as good as TNT from what I've seen (albeit a couple of
extensions not implemented yet).

Yes. I ran it on my CL Voodoo2; after I renamed the DLLs.
