Maybe, not sure. So far Quake and Quake 2 will run with that subset of the OpenGL calls, so perhaps Quake 3 will as well. That's actually a good question I've not seen asked before. I heard that 3dfx - and probably some of the companies like creative and stuff - are trying to develop a set of drivers which allow opengl on voodoo based systems, by converting opengl commands to direct3d. I don't know if they are going to be fast enough, or offer all the features needed, but this may just give you the performance needed. I know Voodoo is going to be supported anyway, but I'm just saying that if they can do it, and other non-gl cards have the necessary features, it can probably be done for other cards too. Mr M

OpenGL has been our since day 1 for Voodoo and Voodoo2 and ROCKS - directX sucks big time ( What version we at now 6.1 ??? ) Whats happening is there's openGL drivers to support directX for those who don't have a Voodoo card - I wouldn't bother - a voodoo 1 costs ~40 - I'm gonna updrage to Voodoo2 for Quake 3, > >I know Voodoo is going to be supported anyway, but I'm just saying that if >they can do it, and other non-gl cards have the necessary features, it can >probably be done for other cards too. > > >Mr M > > >
