Graphics-wise, Q4, is based on Doom3, if you've played that you can get an
idea. As far as the storyline & gameplay are concerned, Q4 is more like Q2,
where you're battling space aliens and not fighting in an arena, and it is
not-at-all like Q3. But if you're into multiplayer on the internet, I
couldn't tell you because I haven't tried it, but from what I saw in the
demos, deathmatch in Q4 looks alot like Q3.

Now that the price has come down, I would say it is definitely worth the
money. But, if your computer isn't fast enough to handle it (try
downloading the demo, or the demo for D3 to see), it might not be worth it.

I have an Athlon FX55 (2.6GHz) with 1Gig RAM & dual BFG GeForce 7600GT
graphics cards at 1280x1024 and I can run a Q4 timedemo at over 60fps
(85fps), so the performance for me is good. My last computer was an Athlon
2500+ (1.8Gig) with a GeForce 6800, and it probably would have played OK,
but would not have been enjoyable. I remember trying Doom3 on that computer
and it was horrible.

I just finished Call of Duty 2 and would recommend that as a great game,
based on WWII. And you can never go wrong with Half-Life. Steam has a
great deal where you can buy all current & previous Half-Life &
HL/Valve-related games for US $80. That includes HL 1 & 2, plus, the new
Episode 1 as well as all Counter-Strike Source games and any/all expansion
packs made up until now. If you have hi-speed internet, would be worth it,
in my opinion.
