I probably wouldn't go for the GT myself... if I had money to burn, I'd go
straight for a 7800 <g>
A 256 meg vanilla 6600 would be nice. ATM I don't have the cash to spare,
but you never know.

Indeed. I've only seen 256MB models as well, which is helping to keep
the to around Ł230 plus.

Vanilla 6800s start from about Ł110, a little less if you can put up
with an LE.

256MB 6600's can be picked up for around 80 to 90 quid from most on-line
retailers. Or a GT model will set you back Ł110 (but with only 128MB).
Are the GT models really worth that much of a premium ?  The FPS stats
don't seem to back them up...
