Well, I've still got the same mobo and CPU running on one machine, and it always has run pretty
hot under a full load (both the Tbird on the KT266 and the Barton on the Nforce2 did). Those
numbers seem to be about right. The only thing that ever helped as far as lockups and getting
kicked back to the desktop (apart from the bigass HS and Fan, actually opening up the side of
the case for airflow, and so on) was reseating the heatsink every month or so and making sure
not to use too much thermal compund. I also remember that replacing my PSU with a more reliable
and powerful one helped a lot with the crashes.

Supposedly temps above 60C aren't unusual, but I used to always worry when they got that high
during gaming.

This forum always seemed to have the best info.

Using one of the idle-loop fixes seemed to keep it from jumping up too high too quickly even
though they're mostly for the KT133 & 266 chipsets. VCool always seemed to do the best job and
it was free too. It's getting hard to find, though. I'm not sure if Martin Peters even does
anything with it anymore.
