Under Section "InputDevice" your mouse settings should appear like so. Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" Option "Buttons" "7" Option "ZAxisMapping" 6 7" Now, create a file named .Xmodmap in your $HOME directory (/home/username for users or /root for you guessed it root.) Open up your favorite text editor and enter this line. pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5 That's it. Save the file. Ensure that there's a notation in Xsession (this file usually resides in /etc/X11/xdm/ or /etc/X11) that looks like so. usermodmap=$HOME/.Xmodmap Alternatively, you could enter the notation like so. (You could place this in $HOME/.xinitrc if you're so inclined.) xmodmap $HOME/.Xmodmap Finally, you could even just run the script by typing ~/xmodmap .Xmodmap Now your side buttons will be identified in Quake3 as 4 and 5 respectively. With the mousewheel being detected as wheel up and down. On Tue, 24 Dec 2002 00:37:50 +0000, Vigil wrote: > How did you get X to differentiate between the thumb button and middle > button?
