basically youre implying that the formation of p0rn0finish started the downward spiral, which in my opinion is true to the dot... when i first came to this NG, i wanted merely to get some tips and help with quake 3. except when i got here, something was going on that was a bit unexpected to me. there was a community. there were people that actually KNEW each other, played with each other, attended lans, and shared their situations with each other through the newsgroup. so i hopped right in. connected to PITS instagib and overkill servers, got to know some of the regulars, and started to feel comfortable talking in the newsgroup. some people wore the [AGQx] tag so others would know that they were from the NG. then, the clan arena overkill server was starting to get competitive. everyone was improving and the games were extremely fun. i believe it was cheet and a few others who had an idea to start up a clan based out of the NG to compete on some ladders. i think these people anticipated a split in the NG and i do remember that a lot of time was spent trying to make sure everyone was cool with it. many a post were made trying to keep the NG united while pF forked out into some ladders. despite me being around for some time, i still didnt feel like part of the community. i figured that this would be the best way for me to get involved more. i asked to join and they said, "sure why not" we played in matches and scrimmages and such and started to move our part of the AGQx community to IRC. pF sort of branched off and never looked back. people still had that competitive side of them and other clans were formed out of pF. many stopped coming to the NG (including myself). so here i am. 3 years later. back to the NG that basically nutured me throughout my early q3 days. looking back i guess i can say that im somewhat happy with what ive done in q3, somewhat sad that many NG people lost contact with me and i with them, but overall content with where i ended up. i think a lot of people just moved on to other things. i, for one, am very competitive by nature, and i wanted to play in ladder matches and such. i think as people progressed in the NG, they sort of "came to their own" and went in the direction that they felt fit. just my opinion. -illusion Chicken <n...@no.net> wrote in message news:dok90vgdhfs33dq9qsobk237prmdng2am6@4ax.com... > > I speak from much experience here.
