Hello all. Performance is outstanding on my CeleryA 450/Creative Riva TNT. VERY comparable to Q2, at least at 640x480 & 800x600 (1024x768 is still WAY playable- much better fps than Half Life at that res). I did not have to do any special tweaking to get it to run, other than unzip it and run Quake3.exe. Gotta love having a robust OpenGL ICD. Game play will undoubtedly be fantastic...you gotta love the Mortal Kombat-esque narrator announcing that "You've taken 1st place" after fragging your first opponent, or the foreboding "Quad Damage" when you power up. I look forward to playing a bot with half a brain, instead of them just running against the walls. Once or twice, however, plasmagun fire game out of nowhere- and as I turn, a bot is strafing around me, only to head for the wall as soon as he passes me. In other words, the only way to get these things to fight is to get between them and the wall, after they respawn. It was much brighter than I expected (besides the FOG, which needs to be toned down. I'm thinking Turok, here), and the weapons all sound great. A few of them are quite visually "work in progress"- some are still a simple 3d mapped object, with no texture even applied yet. Overall, the game will ROCK. Anyone experimented with LAN play, yet? @AtomiK@
