I know this is a Q2 newsgroup, but I'm going under the impression that
anyone subscribed to the Q2 newsgroup must be a Quake player like me!
Thanks. Please take the time to read the following paragraphs it U are
any kind of a GL Quake Guru. Or if U might have had same problem as me
and know how to fix it then I'd probably accept a reply too! :) Thx!

I am in need of some help with GL Quake. I installed a new PURE3D 6meg
3Dfx card. I can play in GL just fine for just a few mins. Always and
every time it will chop, slow down and then just quit.. with the hard
drive always running when it does this. Tapping the return key brings
me right back to windows95. The system specs if U need to know are as
follows. Cyrix 6x86 166+ (not an MX), ASUS VX chipset motherboard,
Maxtor 540M HD (drivespaced to 1.0G), Novell NE2000 network card, Matrox
Millenium 4meg (not Millenium 2), 64 megs ram total, 200 megs virtual
memory, PURE3D 6meg 3Dfx Voodoo. I run with the following line when
starting: GLQUAKE.EXE -noipx -heapsize 48096 -window -width 512
-height 384 -bpp 8 I also have directX 5.0 installed and all my glide
and other drivers are all new versions. I can run X-Wing vs TIE Fighter
in 3Dfx GL mode and I still get some kind of a pause every 15 mins or so
and while this is quite annoying it does'nt cause the crash back to the
desktop that I'm expereincing with GL Quake. I think I've provided
enough info here to help anyone but if theres something I've forgotten
please ask. I am getting very annoyed at not being able to play GL
Quake. I have the new card and I can't even get to see what it can do
yet in Quake. I was impressed at what it could do for Xwing vs TIE
though, very impressed. Any GL'ers can help I'd appreciate the time you
put into writing a reply. Thanks in advance.
