As I see I'm not the only one... This game sucks! Install recognized
the AMD K6 PR2 200 as less than a Pentium 90, GL version choppy(sound
ok), can't adjust brightness. I certainly would like to talk with the
people who released it without witnesses in the room. The only thing
made me happy on this darn saturday is the Hercules Stingray 128/3d. At
least that wasn't wasted money! But that game... And no money back on
software...

I am a little confused. I have never bought a software package that I
can't return. The stores always take them back! Where are you buying
your software that you can't return it? I have a Cyrix 686 with several
of the same problems. looks like I'll be upgrading to an Intel P2
soon. By the way, I have read articles in several places that state the
AMD's and Cyrix's are great if you are running business apps, but stick
with Intel for graphics processing (3d games etc.) Wish i had know that
earlier.

Serves you right for buying a cheap chip.

I agree, it bites! I got it free off a warez, so at least I didn't pay
for it! FYI...Hastings Music & Books won't let you return software unless
its defective. They suck!

I wouldnt worry too much about your AMD cpu being weak on graphics.
Next year the new graphic cards will have the power to run graphic
intensive games like quake II without putting much load on the cpu.
Im running a AMD 586x133 at 160mhz. AMD and Cirus cpus overclock nicely!

I think I heard that the Banshee chip will have onboard polygon
calculation

You must have been smoking the Computer Shopper. The last review of the
K6 chip in there has a little sentence in there about how a K6 was a
good value for the money if FPU performance _wasn't that critical._
After 3 or 4 pages about what hot silicon it is, and all its great
WinBench scores, they toss that in at the end.

WinBench - Ziff Davis product
Computer Shopper - Ziff Davis product
Bias? Maybe.

K6's scream on Word and Excel and all that, but FPU is not taxed on
those programs like it is on Quake. If you bought your machine to take
work home on, that's a great machine, but forget it for Quake. FPU's
where it's at for Quake, and only the Pentium delivers the goods.

Sorry!

Chris

Hey BRAINDAMAGE Sal from Dallas!
On what did you base this statement? As I see, even Pentium owners have
trouble too! So what's the deal on that? 2+2=5 where 2 is an extemely
large number. Kiss off jerk!

Sorry pal. I don't think it is the chip. I have a Diamond Monster 3D, and
the GL version is choppy for me too. Yeah, I am using more memory with
-heapsize.

I have a Cyrix 6x86 150+, 32MB EDO, SB AWE 64value, Creative Labs 64-bit 3-D
PCI BUS w/4MB EDO video card, and it runs flawlessly on my system. Smooth as
silk with regards to sound, graphics and movement on my PC, even on the
toughest level w/all the bad guys.
