Secret room in Upper Palace?

In the Upper Palace near the Communication Laser there is a room where you
can turn off the Yellow Force Fields, once you have the Security Pass that
is. As you stand at that console, directly behind you is a secret room that
can be accessed using the "noclip" mode. What is this room for and how do
you get there without cheating??

Hi George,
   OK. I thought perhaps it had something to do with multi-player mode. I
know in Duke Nukem 3D there were a number of hidden transporters that were
only accessible when playing in multi-player, and it occurred to me that
this might be the same kind of thing. Thanks anyway!
