I recently obtained a copy of MS VC++, so I've been fiddling around with the Q2 source code (I don't actually *know* C++ so I've just doing a bit of fiddling) and after picking up a few things from QDevels, I thought I'd release a test build of the changes I've made. It's available on my FTP space at ftp://65.30.181.223/quake/EvilBill/evilbill-mod/evilbill-test-dll.zip - simply unzip to an 'evilbill' folder in your Q2 directory and do the usual quake2.exe +set game evilbill I shall be firing up a test server tonight - the IP is currently 81.76.96.196, but my PC's been crashprone of late so I've had to do a *lot* of rebooting :( Summary of changes: - Power-up timers now display for *all* active power-ups, not just the one first activated - "id" command added to display the names of players you're looking at (untested as yet) - Death messages altered (for example, "EvilBill visits the volcano god" for falling in lava) - Message of the Day code added (currently untested for clients - not certain whether local file needed or not) Server will be going up... well, now <g> Standard DM, Q2DMx rotation. Enjoy :) -- -- "I see what the nhh-stars do, because so fair is their shape; it is well for me with them and it is well for them. I am a nhh-star, the companion of a nhh-star, I become a nhh-star, and I will not suffer for ever." EvilBill - http://www.evilbill.co.uk My Quake2 FTP site: ftp://65.30.181.223/quake/EvilBill/

Have you guys considered using WoD for coop play? I've never tried it but I
think it should certainly work with WoD6 or WoD7. (It won't work with WoD8
though.) Then you can set the bad guys on fire, use a grappling hook, etc.
Better yet, you get the superweapons and they don't. :)

Newer folks...
If you've never ever played WoD in any flavor, well you're in
for a real TREAT. After you've drooled over the other mods,
this one reigns supreme. Let me tell ya....fun, fun, and more
fun. Personally after playing Jail Break, I didn't think I'd
find a more kewler team game...however...
Played w/Cy on a few warm ups when the Harley WoD league got going
but other real world events took precendence so I couldn't commit. However,
I've played team DM, team Rail, team CTF, and none
can come close to WoD imho. Hell the DM version of WoD is
fun, fun, fun,. But after you get tired spamming every grenade
in sight in earlier versions you want more challenge and WoD 8 will provide
it.
Oh sorry...this thread was about coop....duh...;-P
Yeah...Q2 lives baby in many flavors...

Thanks, got it bookmarked. Looks like I'll have to wait for
construction to finish to get hold of those files. I'll be checking
