QUAKE 2 FRAMERATE

OK EVERYONE. Remember when Qtest first came out and how slow it ran.
Do not judge Quake 2 until the final version is out. I would have
thought everyone would have learned this lesson by now. I'm sure it
will require more processing speed than Quake did because its a Win95
only game. This among other things. Cool games with all the features
everyone wants requires expensive hardware. There is always a trade
off. Kind of like an automobile. You want horsepower expect low gas
mileage. You want fuel efficiency you have to sacrifice some power.
Can't have your Quake2 cake and eat it to.
Flame me at sa...@netxpress.com if you must.

I get a bigger fps in the Quake2 Test on my 3Dfx than on regular GLQuake
maxed to the eyeballs. Plus with a 5-10% speed increase when the final
version comes out, I'll be looking at over 50fps for the first time on my
3Dfx.

Just my two cents.

Hit the ~ key to get into console mode and then type timerefresh. This will
give you the fps. Hit ~ to get back into game.

Feh. Timerefresh varies considerably depending on where you are in
the game. You have to have a standardized measurement before you can
start spouting off FPS numbers.
