Here's the deal: Quake2: looks like a very beautiful game graphics wise, and seems to have the best engine (except for Prey's maybe). Although id has tried to fix the major problems of Quake, they haven't disappeared completely. Quake 2 is gonna be a great game, but the environment still looks 99% brownish-grey. What kinda textures are those? Some kind of rusted metal? Hexen2: I thought I was playing Quake the first time I tried the demo. They made very minimal improvements on the engine and the physics. And the music sounds like something from Wolfenstein! I wasn't too impressed with the gameplay, but atleast the game has more colours than brown and grey like in Quake. For the RPG aspect of the game, I didn't even notice it. Pretty shallow RPG elements if you ask me. You either make an adventure, RPG, or 3D Shooter. Not all in one. Prey: This game looks to have THE BEST engine in terms of possibilities and boundaries. Not much is known about the rest of the game except that it looks to be AMAZING. Meaning better than Quake2, but by the time Prey is out Quake3 will be in the making. The setbacks for Prey were very bad for the game. If it was to be released with Quake2 and the others than it would be the leader of the pack, but who knows what will be coming out at the time of Prey. Unreal: This game has some really nice scenery and graphics, but other than that there's nothing original besides the option to "jump" from server to server in multiplayer games. It IS going to be a great game, but then again there are 6 other great games coming out at the same time. In a phrase, Too Quake like. Half-Life: The most amazing single player experience is supposed to be in this game. And the graphics may also be superior to those of it's competitors. A lot of detail too. And for people who are sick of organic/mechanic enemies, this game seems to have more realism in terms of single player oponents. Jedi Knight: WOW! This is a great game. It has great graphics (maybe not at the same level as Half-Life, but still good), HUGE levels, a very original story, many interesting gameplay features (force powers, light sabres, etc.), original level design, and much more. This game received a 94% from PCZone, and I have a feeling that PCGamer will give it an even higher score. This should be at the top of everyone's list. This game isn't getting nearly as much recognition as it deserves! SiN: Good game, but don't even bother. Nothing original-- absolutely nothing. Notice how all the other creators of the Quake spawns are showing off all of their original and amazing features? Well what has the development team of SiN done? Nothing. Besides, even if this is a good game, there are many GREAT games coming out at the same time. Duke Nuk'em Forever: Not much has been shown of this game, but with the anxiety of the creators, I am definately looking forward to this game. The only thing that I would worry about if I were the production team of DKF is that everybody will be busy with Quake2, Half-Life etc. when this game comes out. Well, that's my honest opinion, and in my point-of-view the ONLY right opinion. Feel free to post messages saying that I'm crazy and my opinions are too. But please also state why, not just "You're a fucking idiot".
