I used to use a sidewinder gamepad, and I agree, it is a very well-designed
pad, but I have recently changed to the Gravis Xterminator which has one more
button than the sw pad, many more features (hat switch, throttle, analogue &
digital d-pads, rudder flippers - all of which are fairly well positioned and
easy to use) and the programming software is more comprehensive (I could never
understand why the d-pad and start button on the sidewinder pad could not be
programmed, amongst other things). The only feature missing from the
Xterminator is the facility for connecting an alternate controller, although
(like the sidewinder) up to 4 Xterminator pads can be connected and used
together. I'd say the Xterminator wins the title hands-down.
